Pixel and Voxel Representations of Graphs

چکیده
We study contact representations for graphs, which we call pixel representations in 2D and voxel representations in 3D. Our representations are based on the unit square grid whose cells we call pixels in 2D and voxels in 3D. Two pixels are adjacent if they share an edge, two voxels if they share a face. We call a connected set of pixels or voxels a blob. Given a graph, we represent its vertices by disjoint blobs such that two blobs contain adjacent pixels or voxels if and only if the corresponding vertices are adjacent. We are interested in the size of a representation, which is the number of pixels or voxels it consists of. We first show that finding minimum-size representations is NP-complete. Then, we bound representation sizes needed for certain graph classes. In 2D, we show that, for k-outerplanar graphs with n vertices, Θ(kn) pixels are always sufficient and sometimes necessary. In particular, outerplanar graphs can be represented with a linear number of pixels, whereas general planar graphs sometimes need a quadratic number. In 3D, Θ(n2) voxels are always sufficient and sometimes necessary for any n-vertex graph. We improve this bound to Θ(n ·τ) for graphs of treewidth τ and to O((g+1)2n log2 n) for graphs of genus g. In particular, planar graphs admit representations with O(n log2 n) voxels.

FusionNet: 3D Object Classification Using Multiple Data Representations
High-quality 3D object recognition is an important component of many vision and robotics systems. We tackle the object recognition problem using two data representations, to achieve leading results on the Princeton ModelNet challenge. The two representations: • Volumetric representation: the 3D object is discretized spatially as binary voxels 1 if the voxel is occupied and 0 otherwise. • Pixel ...
متن کاملPixel-Based Skin Detection for Pornography Filtering
A robust skin detector is the primary need of many fields of computer vision, including face detection, gesture recognition, and pornography filtering. Less than 10 years ago, the first paper on automatic pornography filtering was published. Since then, different researchers claim different color spaces to be the best choice for skin detection in pornography filtering. Unfortunately, no com...
متن کاملOn the distance eigenvalues of Cayley graphs
In this paper, we determine the distance matrix and its characteristic polynomial of a Cayley graph over a group G in terms of irreducible representations of G. We give exact formulas for n-prisms, hexagonal torus network and cubic Cayley graphs over abelian groups. We construct an innite family of distance integral Cayley graphs. Also we prove that a nite abelian group G admits a connected...
متن کاملFrom Letters to Pixels
Specifying regions of interest to search 3D anatomical space can be di cult. Ontology-based queries are often imprecise and return extra (unwanted) data. Drawing regions of interest in graphical 3D representations of a model organism in principle allows for high precision, but user interfaces can be awkward to use and time consuming. In this poster we promote the use of spatial descriptions as ...
متن کاملPixels, voxels, and views: A study of shape representations for single view 3D object shape prediction
The goal of this paper is to compare surface-based and volumetric 3D object shape representations, as well as viewer-centered and object-centered reference frames for single-view 3D shape prediction. We propose a new algorithm for predicting depth maps from multiple viewpoints, with a single depth or RGB image as input. By modifying the network and the way models are evaluated, we can directly ...
